The tradition of making music using handbells began in England in the eighteenth century. In its heyday in the nineteenth century large numbers of people attended competitions between teams playing large numbers of handbells. From these roots the playing of musical handbells has spread throughout the world becoming popular in USA, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Australia and Europe as well as in its original home of the UK.
Bells of Whitechapel Ltd is delighted to support the musical handbell community through the provision of new handbells from both England and the USA, as well as through the maintenance and refurbishment of existing sets of handbells. Alongside this we provide instruments in the form of hand chimes (Malmark Choirchimes) as well as a range of complementory accessories.
